How the Ecosystem works in APPLE iPhone

How the Ecosystem works in APPLE iPhone

Have you ever asked somebody why they use an iPhone we're going to start with the Explanation of Ecosystem, which smartphone is in your pocket right now do I reveal it right now or got the iPhone 10? , there it is sometimes hard to break away from that ecosystem what is it about this ecosystem you're talking about your next man the pressure's on iPhone 10. wow it's just two phones so far I'm going to be straight Up it's I text message to a man in the ecosystem whoa that's what it is for me so to be fair you need to be totally into the Apple ecosystem so I'm talking apple music iPhones max the whole thing but on the flip side if you're in the Apple ecosystem and the tech outweighs

Everything else I would pick these up is the ecosystem there are tales all over the internet about this ecosystem In tech reviews and all kinds of iPhone videos probably every Apple Home video on the internet has that word or that phrase in it somewhere and even in regular everyday conversations if you ask somebody why they use an iPhone it more or less comes down to the same answer sometimes it is just because it's the best all-around phone and they believe the hardware is superior that's sometimes but often like really the answer has Something to do with the ecosystem

                           Apples Ecosystem is Awesome

The ecosystem is a biological community of interacting organisms and their physical environment so in tech you know a real ecosystem is just a community of interacting objects apple makes a lot  of devices you know the iPhone the iPad the MacBook, the apple watch, the Apple TV, the home pod, Air Pods, but they also make a lot of software and proprietary technology that ties them all together Airplay, airdrop, continuity iCloud, so once they can draw you into the

Ecosystem somewhere with one of their devices let's say an iPhone for example you get an iPhone like many people do then they can try to lure you to spend more money on other apple products because they just work so well together now most companies have a family of products that's not new it's not like apple's the only one doing that

But what makes this particularly unique ecosystem so successful maybe the most successful ecosystem ever is not only , You may have heard that expression before meaning everything that's in the walled garden in these walls is this beautiful luscious  walled garden everything is green it's everything you Could ever want but these walls on the outside are really tall and they kind of don't want you trying to climb out or trying to explore beyond those walls , just those two things they make it as easy as possible you start using imessage you start Getting text messages on your phone and then you can reply to them on your computer super easy blue bubbles everywhere your web browsing on your phone then you sit down on your computer and it shows up for you to pick up exactly where you left off you have icloud drive so any files on one are always on the other anything not showing up airdrop peer to peer sharing legendary you have tethering so the macbook always has the iphone's internet Wherever you go want to make a video call i mean i guess facetime's right there you can answer it on either device you ask siri to remind you for something it'll put it in the reminders app every time so okay now you're in the market for a smart watch well i mean just you just get an apple watch like what other options are there really now you can answer text on your watch too blue bubbles everywhere answer calls on Your watch there's facetime still ask siri to set reminders on the watch it'll put them in the reminders app everything works together so beautifully

okay now you're in the market for a smart speaker it's a pretty new market a couple of options out there seem like it makes perfect sense to just go with the apple one now suddenly wireless headphones are gaining steam you're in the market for some wireless earbuds air pods are right there they Work perfectly you get the idea all these to make those products as good as possible within the ecosystem and those are keywords within the ecosystem

this Explains the existence of so many apple products that on the surface or competition like why does the homepod exist in 2018 a smart speaker that only uses siri only uses apple music does not connect to bluetooth does not connect to anything that's not an iphone does not have a headphone jack Because for that guy who uses apple music and has an icloud account and has an iphone it's kind of perfect to be honest though i've even been guilty of being in the ecosystem you know despite being i mean i use android so i'm not tied in as deep i use some multi-platform stuff spotify dropbox things like that but i'm a final cut pro editor because final cut pro is really good and Final cut pro is mac only and it will probably pretty much always be mac only so what about leaving what about getting out of the ecosystem well in apple's case pretty much everything is tied to your iCloud account and s much easier said than done the more closely tied to iCloud that device is the more hooks it has Into other parts of the ecosystem that make it harder to take out so accessories like air pods for example you know

they work perfectly with things like your iPhone and your iPad and your MacBook because of the w1 chip they pair effortlessly we all know it just kind of works the apple way but with it now if You use apple music and want to switch to Spotify because it's clear but trying to leave the iPhone to go to another phone that's not in the ecosystem is tough because there's a lot of hooks into this all of your app purchases are gone your face time is Gone your Air Pods become useless your home pod becomes useless you can't use the reminders app anymore your apple watch becomes a paperweight and iPhone message is gone and then the iPhone the holy grail for shepherding people into this garden is so hard to leave that a new phone could come along with an also, by the way, there are other ecosystems too there are Google's amazons Samsung's there's

there are some more complete than others and just generally you notice ecosystems from everyone are expanding and evolving two years ago you didn't need smart appliances in your ecosystem as a tech company a couple of days ago amazon bought the ring for a billion dollars to get ahead on smart Video doorbells that's just kind of what we're living in with all these companies building up their ecosystems some with little walls some with huge walls some are just as open as possible Google's, for example, is probably but it's still interesting to look at and evaluate apples which have been closed off for so Long the walls have been built for so long that it kind of makes its weird case study other than that's pretty much it  is my only suggestion would be don't isolate yourself to just one ecosystem don't lock yourself in or if you are already locked in maybe take a peek over those walls before it's too late thanks for watching talk to you in the next one

                         APPLE ECOSYSTEM IS EXPLAINED

That work because of continuity and the first one that I want to talk about is airdrop is awesome for getting files between devices if you have a file or video on your iPhone that you need to move to your mac or your iPad quickly you just use the share sheet and tap on the other airdrop device you want to send it to and bam through a direct wi-fi connection

The files magically copy over I use this all the time when I take some b-roll footage on my iPhone and I want to get it to my mac quickly for editing it's faster than waiting for iCloud to sync it in the background or sending it to yourself with email or text somehow when you use airdrop apple just kind of decides for you what to do with the files for sending files to the mac it'll just

Put it in the downloads folder if you send stuff like photos or videos to the iPad or the iPhone it will automatically open up in the Photos app if you want more control over how you move files back and forth between these devices you can also use universal clipboard instead universal clipboard is a feature which allows you to copy something on one device and paste it on another if for example

You're working in a chat app on your iPhone and need to copy some text or something from your iPad or your mac then you can simply right click and copy or command c and then tap and hold on the iPhone to paste the text you just copied just like with airdrop this limits the need for finding other ways to get information from one device to another

Without using some kind of background app syncing like with apple notes and like I said a moment ago you can use the universal clipboard for sending files too I can copy this video file from the Files app on my iPad and then paste it to the mac desktop super quick if you use universal clipboard instead of airdrop you have more control over where your file ends up and then you can decide to open

It or move it or whatever you need to do instant hotspot is the ability to automatically tether a mac iPad or even iPhone to another iPhone with cellular or iPad with cellular now I much prefer to have cellular built into my iPad but until we get that option on mac at least I can quickly tether to my iPhone or iPad by going right up to the wi-fi menu at the top of the bar

And selecting my other device and because you're signed in with your apple id to everything no password is required and you're automatically connected continuity camera allows you to take photos for your mac with your iPhone or iPad you can use this in mail notes and other apps to do this in email or notes just select the photo attachment icon to find your device

And click on take photo the camera will pop up on your device allowing you to frame and snap a photo before placing it into the document when I bought my first mac in seven years last summer wow has it been a whole year since I went back to the mac that's crazy let me know if you're interested in hearing any of my thoughts on that because I'm kind of curious now that i think when you answer an incoming call on the iPhone the audio will automatically switch over for you don't have to do anything or you can be going back and forth watching or listening to different things which I've done this when doing research on different topics or trying to figure out how to use to do something either on computer or even Something around the house here's an example i showed in my iPad air 4 accessory video [Music] [Applause] all right the last thing i want to talk about under the continuity umbrella is text message forwarding with iMessage on your iPhone you can go to settings messages text message forwarding and select the other devices you want to Forward SMS messages to now just like your blue bubble messages you can send and receive SMS messages on your iPad and mac no more needing to go back and forth between devices to answer SMS messages or only receive some of your messages on your mac and iPad you can quickly see and respond to or create new threads of SMS and mms messages from any of your apple devices moving Outside of continuity but sticking with iMessage for a moment macs and iOS devices can automatically fill in those annoying security codes that apps and websites send you when you try and log in with the apple ecosystem and text message forwarding that we just talked about apple will give you a pop-up to automatically fill in those codes for you in safari on mac and pretty much

Everywhere else on iPhone and iPad instead of receiving a notification about the code opening up messages and then trying to copy the message in there or the code in there or trying to memorize the code then pasting or typing it in a little pop-up will appear allowing you a single tap to fill in those security codes for you it's such a little time saver but helps To alleviate some of those annoyances you experience every day when signing into websites and apps i probably use this 10 times a day between personal work and YouTube stuff so i like it now i want to talk about apps real quick and more specifically getting apps apple launched the app store for iPhone in 2008 and the mac app store in 2011 which brought an easy way to find and get new apps With a couple of clicks or taps you can download or buy millions of apps which can be shared across your devices you don't need to keep track of your license keys or purchases and your whole library is just right there if you need it i don't need to show you how the app store works because i mean you have to know right otherwise you wouldn't be here i use them and love Them but many of the apps i use are apps for mac that are not in the app store

For various reasons like API restrictions costs or other mac app store issues and that's where our sponsor comes in because behind the beautiful design the hidden value of the mac has always been software, setup is a curated subscription of over 200 paid apps in multiple Categories brought together under one roof that can give you a huge boost in overall productivity all for one low price with maintenance apps you can get a better understanding of how your mac is running by monitoring the CPU GPU temps fans and more with istat menus or you can speed up your mac by removing the unneeded junk background processes and malware with The help of clean my mac with utilities like screens you can remotely access and control other macs and pcs

you can use a clear VPN to securely browse the web and stream video from different regions setup also has apps for development writing education and more all curated so you can just focus on work the best part about the setup is the price because if you wanted all of these apps It would cost you over six thousand dollars with the setup you can get full access to all of these apps free for seven days and then it's just a flat price of 9.99 after that to get started with setup today check out the link in the description below and my thanks to set app for sponsoring this video okay so i barely scratched the surface of all of the great benefits And features of the apple ecosystem i could go on and on about other things smaller things but you know you'd probably get bored and go away so let's talk more about that below in the comments but    let me tell you more about what i'm excited about coming out this fall at

                     Conclusion

Apple has the absolute best accessibility for blind and visually impaired users like me on their devices. Such accessibility features include voiceover, zoom, magnifier, switch in voice control, and even Siri. Oh also, one of my favorite features is airdrop and universal clipboard because, with Airdrop, I can just select a bunch of photos on my iPhone, and then, port them over to my iPad easily. When I’m making a YouTube video, I can look things up on Amazon, copy the link on one of my Apple devices, and paste it onto the Apple device that I’m uploading the video. It’s neat and nice. iCloud is also cool because it keeps your devices in sync. However, iCloud photos are a big oof in my opinion because at the base free storage level, 5 GB, it’s not enough to back up all of my photos. Also, for $330, the base-level iPad should not come with 32 gigs of storage. My last gripe is that Max is so expensive that I can’t even afford one.

2: The walled garden also has several disadvantages. The features are of course nice and help noobs to use their devices efficiently, but whether you should give up your freedom remains unanswered. Some features, such as forwarding SMS and other messages from the smartphone to the Mac or iPad, are even dangerous because they undermine the security of multi-factor authentication.
